What to Expect

  What to Expect

A Place to Worship... A Place to Serve... A Place to Belong

United Presbyterian Church welcomes all people into the full life of our congregation, including services of worship, membership, eligibility for leadership, availability of pastoral care, and opportunities for learning, fellowship and service. We affirm the worth of every person as a bearer of God’s image, and we welcome all people, regardless of social, economic or marital status, race, ethnicity, ability, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, or previous religious affiliation. As we are freely loved and accepted by God, we will offer love and acceptance in this congregation.

We invite you to join us as we worship the God of our salvation, learn how to be disciples of Christ, serve our brothers and sisters, and share the joys of friendship and communion with each other.

When is your worship service?

We have one worship service on Sunday at 10 am held in our sanctuary. The services typically last one hour and is followed by a Fellowship hour with coffee and freshly baked cookies in our Fellowship Hall.

What does the congregation look like?

We are a diverse congregation with members of varying ages, backgrounds, ideologies, finances, and lifestyles.  UPC is comprised of children, youth, young adults, single and two parent families, retired couples, and singles.

Is there an educational hour on Sunday mornings?

Yes, from September through May there is an adult Bible class called "The Present Word" and is led by different congregational members in the church.

What are the worship services like?

Our congregation is uniquely inter-generational. We have chosen to worship together in one worship service with a united "style" that is representative of our gathered community.  Our Sunday morning service is blended offering a wide-range of musical and liturgical expressions from the Christian tradition; both historical and contemporary.

How should I dress when visiting the church?

We have no dress code at UPC. We have people in the church who always wear a suit and some who always wear jeans and a t-shirt, and everything in between.  You are always welcome at UPC no matter what you wear.

Are children welcome in the worship service?

Absolutely. Children are part of God’s family and part of our church. You will frequently see children in the service leading prayers and readings. We have children’s worship bags available with crayons and activities for your children.  We also have a quiet room available for parents with children.  We have a nursery provided for children up to two years of age.  Children 3 and up can attend Sunday School after the Time for Young Disciples during the 10:00 service or remain with their parents.
