The Worship Studio is a creative, artistic, and collaborative worshiping community in Peoria, IL. We  meet on the second Monday of every month from 6:00-7:00pm at The Art Garage (on Main Street near Bradley). At The Worship Studio we create  and participate in worship together through discussion, relationships, and artistic expression.

Using art in worship is not about the skill or style of the artist or creating a beautiful masterpiece. It is about worshiping a creative God through creativity. Creativity is both a fully human and fully divine experience. It reflects the worship that is happening around us, using it as a focus in some way to distill the spirit of that worship, whether lament, thanksgiving, confession, or praise, into a thoughtfully constructed project. Art focuses our eyes on the pain around us, the injustice in front of us, the joy abounding within us, and the pull we feel towards meaning and significance. Music moves us. Poetry connects us. Paintings shout at us. Dance energizes us.

Art in all of its forms and functions helps us to see ourselves, our community, and God in multiple perspectives and dimensions. It reflects what is inside us. It allows us to explore what we could not, or would not want to, put into words. In a way, art can be our deepest and most open, honest, and even vulnerable prayers, as well as our greatest joys and highest hopes. Art can inspire, challenge, and even provoke thought and emotions. It can be a powerful part of our worship as individuals and collectively.

At The Worship Studio we let art inspire us, challenge us, and lead us into new ways of worshiping God and following Christ together. We engage in works of individual and collaborative art, allowing space and time to share our own thoughts on the creative process and how others’ creative projects speak to us. We  invite local artists each month to help lead us in our creative experiential worship. You don't just watch and respond to worship at The Worship Studio; you participate, contribute, and live the worship.

We hope you will join us for The Worship Studio on the Second Monday of the month and join us afterwards for dinner at one of the many diverse local restaurants in that area with some new and old friends.
